Personality:
Frenchies are sometimes called "the clown in the cloak of a philosopher," they are loveable little companion dogs and exceptionally good-natured. They are excellent with children! Frenchies will need to be a part of the family and will want to be in close with everyone in the family. Each "frenchie" possesses his own unique personality, but they are usually independent thinkers, intelligent, with a bit of a mischievous side. They are usually well-behaved if trained to be. They are trainable, but stubborn, and do best when they are convinced that they are interested in the task at hand. They are compatible with other pets. They are active, alert, and playful, but they don't require a lot of . They will have short bursts of high energy, but these are interspersed with long periods of napping and lounging around. Because of their short nose, you have to be careful that you don't exercise them to the point that they overheat. They also don't do well in high temperatures and they do best with air-conditioning on hot days. They can be territorial and protective, and will "sometimes" alert their owners to danger, but not all the time. Some frenchies never bark at intruders. They are typically a quite breed and are not excessive barkers. These loyal little guys are the ideal housedog, except for the fact that they do snore!
Here Are A Few Tips:
1. Never exercise a French Bulldog in the heat of the day
2. Air-conditioning recommended particularly if you live in an apartment
3. Most frenchies will jump in and out of a shallow children's wading pool to keep cool
4. French Bulldogs are not good swimmers and should not have unsupervised access to pools
5. Plan car trips carefully and provide for your frenchie's needs.
6. Air-conditioning highly recommended.
7. Keep your frenchie fit. Although exercise requirements are minimal, a fit and healthy frenchie will be more
heat tolerant than an overweight and unhealthy one
8. Have cool, clean drinking water available at all times and during heat wave conditions give your frenchie electrolytes
Care and Grooming
Minimal grooming is required to keep your frenchie looking good. Keep the coat soft and shiny with a thorough weekly Brushing. A bath and regular nail clipping should be performed when necessary. Keep the face folds clean and dry using cotton wool or a soft face flannel as necessary. Apply vaseline on the nose leather to keep it moist and soft. Remember to keep the ears clean and check them on weekly basis. A balanced diet, fresh water and regular exercise will keep
your frenchie healthy and happy. The most important thing of all is to give your frenchie lots of TLC. Frenchies thrive on love
and attention and kennel life is not for them.
Why Are French Bulldogs So Expensive?
French Bulldogs are very expensive and time consuming to breed. They need progesterone tests to see
when they ovulate. Some need 3 to 5 + tests per heat cycle. They need to be artificially inseminated, again
an expensive procedure. Then they have to have an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy and then the
puppies are born by C-Section The new moms and puppies need to be watched 24/7 as the new
moms have a tendency to lay on them.
However, once you own a frenchie you will see that they are totally worth it because they are addicting,
there is nothing like owning a frenchie or better yet being owned by a Frenchie :)
